Ironic

Had to chuckle.

Last night, while the youngsters - son and his girlfriend - were snuggled up on the couch at her place watching MasterChef, the oldies - hubby and I - were watching a zombie series at home  :)

  1. Ummm...shouldn't this be the other way round? :-D

Blessings (and don't let those zombies get you!)

    1. Haha! I've been a big fan of the horror/fantasy genre most of my life, so it makes sense - to me :)
      And, I can't stand MasterChef.

    2. I don't know who MasterChef is, but I'm not a fan of cooking shows in general. Probably because I've yet to find a good vegetarian cooking show!

Vicki, the list of movies you made has some of my favorite movies on it, especially the 1963 version of The Haunting. And, What Lies Beneath scared the bejeebies out of me the first time I saw it, I think, in part, because I was so used to thinking of Harrison Ford as a 'good guy.' But the part where Pfeiffer and her friend are having a seance in the bathroom gets me every time because I never remember that the dog slams the door! How come I can remember it now, but not when I'm watching the movie? Annoying...

      Blessings, Victoria

    3. MasterChef is a trendy cooking show. I don't like the rubbish, over the top "reality" drama that goes on. And... I'm also a vego, so I hate seeing meat and the dead animals being hacked up and prepared for the table.

Nice to know we share the same taste in movies ;)

  2. Haha! This is really cool :)

Another horror genre fan! I was just chatting to Erin (who posts on my blog) yesterday as she loves horror as well. She suggested Blair Witch Project is a good one for a non-horror-watcher-not-since-teenage-years to watch. Do you have any suggestions?

In the middle of cooking tea then taking Jack for a walk - will get back to you with a list :)

    2. I watch the truly scary stuff, so I won’t mention them here. But these are mildly scary films – great for cuddling with partner on the couch with popcorn in hand.
Here are just a few to choose from. I could’ve made a much longer list :)

      Zombieland – good fun
Shaun of the dead – also good fun
The Others – nice little creepy gothic-style
Session 9 – think old abandoned hospital/asylum atmosphere
The Haunting – only see the 1963 B&W classic, not the later one
The Sixth Sense – these three are M. Night Shyamalan’s better ones
      Signs - "
      The Village - "
      The Changeling – a classic.
What Lies Beneath – nice psychological thriller
Pans Labyrinth – fantasy/thriller - one of my favourites, produced by Guillermo del Toro
The Devil's Backbone – deliciously creepy (subtitles) also Guillermo del Toro
The Orphanage – (subtitles) another Guillermo del Toro
Nosferatu – F.W. Murnau’s MAGNIFICENT B&W silent classic – really old. My favourite original vampires.
Alien – of course, everyone should see this
Dawn of the Dead – remake of George A. Romero’s classic
The Innocents – one of the best B&W suggested horror. Chilling
The Walking Dead – if you’d like to get invested in long running seasons… I’m a big fan
The Mist (2007) – from Frank Darabont, creator of The Walking Dead
Interview with the Vampire – if you can dig Tom Cruise

I have many more suggestions. Wait before you move on to The Grudge, The Ring (Japanese versions are great) and of course, others like The Exorcist :)

  3. Love it. And love that you watch what suits, rather than what is 'fashionable'. And am not surprised.

  5. Last year my niece kept talking about how great "The Walking Dead" was and I said that I doubted that a show about Zombies could be good. After she kept pestered me about it, I finally rented the series from the library.
OMG! Talk about addicted! One of the best shows EVER! I haven't seen this last season yet (the library doesn't have it yet) but I'm scared to death that I'm going to see or read a spoiler! LOL! Seriously, who would have thought I'd love a show about Zombies.
and "What Lies Beneath"? I have watched that movie so many times and I still get scared!
The movie Signs? I think I could recite every line to it. Yeah, kinda loved that too.
and The Sixth Sense, when that little kid has to go to the bathroom...wait a minute, I need to go turn on another light.
    .............OK, I'm back now -
    Yep, love those all.
The Village, I liked it but I figured it out way too early. I hate when that happens.

    1. All good mid-range scares there for sure.
I wouldn't even recommend The Conjuring to people until they're well and truly seasoned in the genre :)
I was the same with The Village, but it's a nice harmless "suggested" horror film.

Glad to meet another TWD fan. All caught up now and looking forward to season 5 in October. Morgan will return... yay!

  6. Zombie Chefs?
I bet they were cooking brains.
Crumbed and fried, or perhaps poached in a garlic sauce.

  7. I've not yet seen The Walking Dead,I'll see if I can find it somewhere, maybe my daughter has it, she's got just about everything.
Not a huge fan of Tom Cruise, but Interview with the Vampire is pretty good.
Have you seen The Devil's Advocate with Keanu Reeves and Al Pacino?
Or Constantine? Also has Keanu Reeves

    1. Definitely hooked on The Walking Dead. The early seasons would be on DVD for sure.
Constantine was interesting. And I enjoyed Interview, because I like most vampire movies. Except the Twilight series...
